Selected Works - Wall Sculptures
Project type
Sculpture
Date
2023- present
NG's most recent body of work involves sculptural pieces aimed to capture the essence of various traditions, cultural motifs, and traditional tapestry, weaving them into a contemporary context.
She works primarily with wire, plaster, and fiberglass, creating organic shapes almost looking like cloth or tapestry, she later embellishes them with cultural motifs and patterns, hopefully establishing a sense of identity amongst the community. These pieces are a reflection her heritage and her ongoing exploration of themes such as tradition, displacement and the interplay between past and present.
It's also really important for her for the artwork to be interactive, to be touched and engaged with. Her son is autistic and has sensory processing disorders, which fosters his love for tactile exploration. This inspired her to transition from traditional oil painting to experimenting with 3D art, incorporating a variety of textures.
All of her art is designed to be touched and explored, inviting interaction and engagement.
