NG ART STUDIO
THE ARTIST'S JOURNEY

EXHIBITIONS
Engy AlGarf is a contemporary artist who likes to tell a story.
Born: 1989, Cairo, Egypt, Engy was introduced to art classes at the early age of 6, and practiced under the supervision of acclaimed artists in a small tucked away studio in Kuwait City. She moved to Egypt in 2007 where she acquired a B .F .A from the American University in Cairo, before completing the graduate program in fine arts in Florence, Italy in 2014. Engy began her artistic journey with fine art, focusing primarily on portraits in oil paint for over a decade.
However, after moving to the US in 2018, she found herself yearning for the essence of her homeland—its culture, traditions, and vibrant colors. Seeking a greater challenge and feeling the need to innovate from two dimensional work, she started experimenting with three-dimensional pieces.
It is then that she created NG Art Studio, a creative space that specializes in paintings and sculptures. Located in Wichita, KS, the studio offers a unique collection featuring pieces that resemble tapestries and rugs, enriched with embedded cultural motifs.
Cultural heritage provides a framework through which individuals interpret and express their emotions, shaping their responses to life’s experiences. This intricate relationship between emotions and culture underscores the rich diversity of human experiences, all of which made her obsessed with exploring the backgrounds of different cultural aesthetics while living and working between Chicago, Illinois and Wichita, Kansas. Engy uses both a combination of design, clay, plaster and paint to create her pieces. She begins by creating her sculptures depending on the overall feel, and later embellishing them with diverse patterns and motifs.
